At Side By Side we see past diagnoses and disabilities. We offer a range of services and programs ensuring each child reaches their full potential and succeeds in school and beyond.
Learn more1999: A Mother’s Vision
Struggling to find a school for her 2-year-old son with Down Syndrome, Mrs. Rumpler founded Side by Side in her home. She envisioned a place where children with special needs could learn alongside their mainstream peers, and thus, Side by Side was born.
2001: Growth at Beis Chinuch
As Side by Side grew beyond Mrs. Rumpler's dining room, the school found its next home in a small room at Beis Chinuch School, expanding to 10 students in a small, nurturing environment.
2003: Expansion on Egerton Road
Side by Side relocated to portacabins on Egerton Road, growing to 23 children, with the introduction of its first school class and the hiring of its first qualified teacher.
2005: Recognition at Big Hill
The school moved to Big Hill, growing to 80 students and 120 staff, earning multiple 'Good' Ofsted reports and offering ASDAN accreditation.
October 2022: A New Era at the Ronson, Wohl, Esfandi Campus
Side by Side moved to an incredible, purpose-built campus at Avigdor Mews. With 129 students and 167 staff members, this state-of-the-art building is creating exceptional opportunities, empowering every child to thrive and reach their full potential.
Our goal is to continuously promote inclusivity, raise awareness, and create a supportive environment for children, their families, and our staff.
We are dedicated to helping each child reach their full potential by continually expanding our services to meet their evolving needs.
We aim to equip each child with the skills and confidence they need to thrive beyond school and achieve independence in the community.
In October 2022, we moved to our upgraded, state-of-the-art premises, which offer optimal opportunities for our children to grow and develop in spacious surroundings.
Our older students are working towards ASDAN accreditation, participating in various modules that enhance essential life skills and promote personal growth. They are also attending IT classes at VISTA, where they are acquiring vital skills to prepare them for life after school.
Since relocating, the school has experienced remarkable growth, with over a 60% increase in pupil intake. We are now once again able to welcome mainstream children alongside those with special educational needs, further enhancing our integrated nursery services.
We believe every child should be given equal opportunities, regardless of their abilities.
We understand the importance of a strong support system and offer invaluable guidance for families with children who have special needs.
We see past labels and believe that with the right help and support, every child can achieve a bright future and become a valued member of society.
We hire only the best teachers and specialist staff to ensure that children receive the highest quality education.
With your support, we can continue to support the special children in our community. Donate today to make a lasting impact every day.
